Edmond ROSTAND. Cyrano de Bergerac. Heroic comedy in five acts, in verse. Paris, Magnier, 1899, in-4 bound half morocco with corners, spine slightly faded decorated with nets and gilt fleurons and mosaic, gilt head, illustrated cover and spine kept. Binding signed by Champs-Stroobants. Illustrated by several artists: the cover and the portrait are due to François Thévenot, the first act to Adrien Moreau, the second to Charles Léandre, the third to Albert Laurens, the fourth to François Flameng and the last to Albert Besnard. All these illustrations have been engraved on wood by Romagnol. Edition printed at 500 copies, one of the 40 first copies on Japon vieux (n°11) with 4 states of the woodcuts: one state before retouching, one state on japon pelure, one state before the letter and the state with the letter. Copy enriched with 5 color plates in fine, according to the note of the editor "we give to the subscribers as a curiosity, with the continuation and outside of the volume, the tests of engraving in colors that we had made execute."
