Katanga coin or Luba "croisette", Democratic Republic of Congo Copper alloy H. 21.5 cm Provenance: Galerie Natsara, Paris Rich in copper, the Katanga region (...) produced a considerable quantity of ingots in the shape of Saint Andrew's crosses, known as "croisettes", as early as the 13th century. These were used as currency in the same way as cowries and glass paste beads. In.
