Paris, Masson fils, 1839, in-12 bound in full chagrin, spine ribbed and decorated with gilt fillets and fleurons, fillets framing the boards and spandrels, interior roulette, gilt edges. Signed Bruyère binding.
Illustrated with a portrait of the author, a colored title-frontispiece, 12 woodcut hors-texte vignettes printed on Chine contrecollé, and numerous in-text engravings.
First edition illustrations. Known as the "little sister" edition, the elder being that of 1838.
