Cesare ROCCHEGGIANI (actif de 1856 à 1864) - Lot 111
Cesare ROCCHEGGIANI (actif de 1856 à 1864)
Etruscan-style brooch in 18k yellow gold (750 ‰) adorned with grainetis and cannetilles (missing) and set with two lapis lazuli cabochons.
Size: 7.2 x 3.2 cm Gross weight: 14.3 g
In a presentation case signed C. Roccheggiani, Mosaic Manufactory, 13 via Condotti, Rome.
Rocchegginai has been a major name in micro-mosaics since the 18th century. The only published reference to Cesare is dated 1859. According to Murray's Handbooks for Travellers of 1888, Cesare Roccheggiani is described as also selling "gold ornaments from antique models".
As the inscription inside the case is in French, it is likely that this brooch was sold in Paris.
