ÉON (Charles de Beaumont, known as the Chevalier d'Éon or Chevalière d'Éon).
Set of two letters addressed by the Chevalière d'Eon, from London on February 10, 1792:
- Autograph letter in which the Chevalière d'Eon recommends the Parisian florist Reuffey recently settled in London, a "skillful manufacturer of artificial flowers and feathers", protégé of her friend and lawyer in Parliament, Falconet, to a lady who could be named on the attached bill on which the Chevalière noted the names of 14 ladies to whom he sent an identical letter, on the same day for seven of them and the following day, February 11, for the last seven.
The first draft autograph minute and the bill are each one page, in-4 format, joined by a pin.
- Autograph letter to a friend whom she wishes to invite to dine with Mr. Wallis, before returning to France, and thus thank them for their support and for the "token of esteem which Messieurs les Menagers de Ranelagh kindly gave me on June 24 last to console me in part for the loss of the sacred deposit of my money in the house of the most noble Lord Ferrers".
The one-page, in-4, autograph minute contains numerous erasures, strikethroughs and additions.
