[Chevalier d'ÉON - GARAT] Memoir by Garat, Master of Arms and Military Drill at the Royal School of Auxerre, addressed to Mlle la Chevalière d'Eon de Beaumont, for presentation to M. le Marquis de Timbrune, Governor and Inspector of the Royal and Military Schools. His autograph signed memoir describes his service record and requests a pension to increase his modest salary. Attached to the memoir is a certificate signed by the school's superior, Mr. Hosman, and bearing a fine wax seal. The set is accompanied by a beautiful autograph letter signed by Garat, addressed to the Chevalière, in which he speaks at length about the Ecole d'Auxerre and invites Mlle d'Eon to attend the review of the Ecole's students, describing in detail the Cadets' uniform. Finally, he asks for her support in obtaining either a pension or the command of military drill at the Ecole de Paris. The memoir, dated July 31, 1781, is 2 pages long, and the letter, dated August 1, 1781, is 3 pages long. Beautiful pieces of remarkable calligraphy.
