Vatican - Order of Pius IX, founded in 1847 Commander's set including: - A jewel in vermeil and enamel, with eight points, enameled azure, interspersed with diamond-tipped palmettes, with a white enamel medallion in the center bearing the name of Pius IX "PIUS IX" in gold letters. Surrounding this medallion is a gold listel bearing the inscription "VERTUTI ET MERITO" in blue letters. On the reverse of the medallion is the year "Anno MDCCCXLVII". The blue star is mounted on a circle of gold rays. Signed on the back by Tanfani Bertareli, with its complete scarf. - Silver-plated metal and enamel plaque, the clouds chased with diamond points, signed on the back. - Papal Brief of Appointment on vellum, entirely handwritten in Latin, headed by Pope Pius XII, given June 6, 1948, sinner's seal in red ink. - Book of statutes of the order "de Equistri Ordine Piano - pro equitibus priamae classis seu a magna cruce", Rome, Vatican Printing Office, 1905, in-4, 17 pp, 3 chromolithographic plates showing uniform, insignia and sword details.
