Lucien JONAS (1880-1947) painter Set of two artist's proofs signed and dedicated in green pencil by Lucien JONAS (1880-1947) to Henry-Louis Dubly, writer, and his wife. These prints depict members of the Vichy government in 1941. The first, dated February 1941, dedicated to Marshal Pétain, was censored and banned by Vichy. The second, dated April 1941, features Charles Huntziger, Minister of War, Jean Bergeret, Secretary of State for Aviation (both signatories of the June 22, 1940 armistice in Rethondes), Joseph Barthélémy, Garde des Sceaux, and François Darlan, Head of the Vichy Government, before Pierre Laval's recall. Dim. respectively 50x32cm and 56x37cm, small marginal tears.
